What is Forensic Science?

The basic meaning for the word forensic is “related to debate or argument”. Forensic Science in its broadest sense is the application of science to law. In other words it is the application of science to those criminal and civil laws that are enforced by police agencies in a criminal justice system. Often the term criminalistics is also used and may be more descriptive in describing the services of a crime laboratory.
